Ostrich feathers have millions of tiny follicles which are naturally electrostatically charged. This means that the feathers attract and hold dust rather than just moving it about. To release the trapped dust, a quick shake outside is all that is needed. The feathers can also be washed in warm soapy water, rinsed and left to air dry.
